Chunky Turban Style Headband Crochet Pattern

Chunky Turban Style Headband Crochet Pattern

IMG_1545-e1523704067559.jpg

This Turban Style Crochet Headband is crocheted in the round, and as one piece. No sewing pieces together (WOO!). This pattern can be adjusted to suit any head size. This pattern refers to an adult size (OSFM). However, size will vary depending on your tension. If you find it too small  go up a hook size, too big go down a hook size. Easy! I use an 8 ply yarn double stranded, but you could also use a 12 ply yarn to get a similar result. To view the video tutorial click HERE

What you need:

  • 5mm Crochet Hook
  • 8 ply Acrylic Yarn (double stranded) OR 12 ply Acrylic Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Darning Needle

Pattern:

Headband

Chain 60, join with slip stitch into the first chain to create loop.Round 1: Chain 2, HDC into each chain around, slip stitch to join (60)Round 2-5: Chain 3, DC in each stitch around, slip stitch to join (60)Round 6: Chain 2, HDC in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.Finish Off. Sew in ends.

Knot

Step 1: Cut a double stranded length of yarn approximately 15-20 inches.Step 2: Gather headband where seam is to create a pleated look. (Similar to what a bow would look like in the centre)Step 3: Tie double stranded yarn around centre of 'bow' where headband is gathered to hold pleated area in place, leave a small tail (2 inches).DO NOT hide or wrap yarn around the tail left in step 3. We'll need it for later! Simply move it to the side.Step 4: Wrap remaining yarn around centre of pleated area to create the 'knot'.Step 5: Leave a small tail and tie that and the tail left in step 3 together to hold 'knot' in place.Step 6: Using a darning needle sew the remaining ends in under the knot to hide.Trim ends and VOILA! You're done! I hope you enjoy this pattern! If you have any questions please leave a comment below, OR stay tuned for the video tutorial coming soon to my YouTube channel!Happy Crocheting,Kate x
